Hair Plans

I just wanted to share with you my hair plans for the next 2 months. I've been doing tons of research and prepping to reach my hair goals this year. Just to refresh your memory on my hair goals this year I added the list below.

1. Retain length
2. Stick to regimen
3. Aim for thickness
4. Learn and perfect 5 new styles
5. APL by Feb 2013

Well what I have planned will hopefully help me reach several goals. First I plan on stretching my relaxers for 16 weeks. Stretching a relaxer means increasing the amount of time between relaxing your hair. It has several benefits which I will share in a later post. I graduate from college in May and I plan on relaxing around that time. To stretch I have been creating a list of tips I will use during my stretch. I again will share this in a future post. The purpose of this post is to give you very basic layout of my plans. I promise to elaborate in future posts.

My second plan is to transition to texlax hair. My hair is pretty fine so when I relax bone straight it makes my hair look limp and thin! I have cut layers in my hair in the past to increase thickness, but I have now grown them out. I want my hair to be thick, not just appear thick. I will have several long stretches where I will transition. I will slowly trim off the relaxed ends when I have either grown tired of taking care of three textures, or have grown my texlax hair to a length I am satisfied with.

Piggy backing off my last point, I plan to self relax. I'm not afraid to self relax. I have done it for YEARS and I have never had a problem. I have also relaxed others' hair so I'm very confident in my ability. Right now the plan is to stick with the Mizani Butter Blends line, That is what I have been using for the pass 5 years or so and my hair loves it. I'm thinking of using the mild relaxer instead of the normal.

Lastly I will be making a YouTube channel in the future. I'm not sure how soon this will be, but it is definitely a goal of mine. Don't worry, you all will be one of the first to know.

So this is my layout for reaching my hair goals this year! If you have any suggestions, questions, or comments leave them below! HHG!!

Wash Day with Clear Rinse

For those of you who follow me on Twitter you know that I tried my first clear rinse last Friday. I will be sharing my experience and results with you. First let me tell you about my wash day and the products I use.

I did an pre-poo with EVCO with a cap for about 30 minutes. I had just come off a 12.5 hour clinical rotation and I was extremely tired, but still did a pre-poo. I feel as if a pre-poo is a vital step in my wash day. I then shampooed with L'oreal Paris EverPure Sulfate-free shampoo. Truthfully I am very satisfied with this shampoo and my be adding it to my regimen permanently. I don't have to use a lot of the product and it doesn't dry out my hair. I DCed overnight with NTM Daily Conditioner. I do NOT like his stuff. I've used it 2 or 3 times already and I'm not impressed. It does not moisturize my hair the way it should. I think this is why I was experiencing breakage after my protein treatment. I will not be repurchasing this conditioner.

I didn't get a chance to wash the conditioner out until about 2pm. I rinsed then I tried my clear rinse. I used the the Jazzing brand from Sally's BSS. I sectioned my hair in four parts and added the product to every section thoroughly. I kept it on for 10 minutes and then I rinsed. I did not see an immediate change as others had. Well I did notice a little shine, but nothing that wowed me. I used Hawaiian Silky 14-N-1 as a leave-in. This was my first time using the product and I'm not sure how I feel about this product yet.

I air-dried overnight using my scarf and ponytail method. Saturday I went to visit in my-laws and Alabama. I was quite surprised and pleased with my Love's Aunt's hair product stash. I used her IC Fantasia Heat Protectant to flat iron my hair. I didn't use much at all. I was pleased with this product and will be purchasing this product for myself in the near future.

My hair turned out great! My hair had so much body and swang!!!! It had a shine out of this word. I could tell my cuticles were closed because my hair was soft, smooth, and light. But of course I didn't get to enjoy my hair out for long b/c it rained cats and dogs ll weekend. My hair got wet the first day. Surprisingly my hair didn't frizz the way of normally does. Now without further delay here are pics of my results.

Random Hair Babble

I think my hair has grown! Yeah!!! Even though I have not done an official length check I can tell my hair has grown since the start of my HHJ.

Yesterday while doing my precept at the hospital my patient told me my hair was long. I almost laughed because using consider my hair even close to being long. But if did help me feel good. Even though I did a very long and hard 12.5 hour shift I came home washed my hair and DCed my hair overnight.

For the first time since my HHJ I went two weeks without washing my hair. I just did not have the time. I like air drying my hair and I did not want to go to class or clinical with wet hair. This was not going to happen especially with it being cold in South Carolina.

I purchased 2 new hair goodies. I needed a liquid moisturizer/leave in. I wanted one without protein, but that is soooo hard for find. I decided to try the Hawaiian Silky 14-n-1 in the green. and white bottle. I also picked up a clear rinse that I'm debating on trying. I think gonna try it tonight since I want to flat iron my hair.

I'm purchasing my hair dryer next month. It will really help me. Reduce the urge to use heat and I can finally try some wet roller sets.

I have decided I do not like HE LTR. While it smells great, its not a great moisturizer. I'm gonna use this bottle up and I will not e repurchasing.

I'm hungry. Time to go eat and finish my hair. I'm still DCing.

Have a happy and blessed weekend!

My Birthday Wish List

My birthday is coming up soon (February 14th to be exact)!!! It has been rewarding having my birthday on Valentine's Day because that means two sets of great gifts! This year will be a little different. I decided that I wanted to do the non traditional Valentine's Day where we don't give each other gifts. Instead we plan a date night. Since my son has been born we have not been able to have a lot of alone time. But anyway I'm getting off topic.

Back to my birthday! I'm sort of excited. Truthfully I'm so busy with family life and school that I have not had the chance to reflect on becoming a year older. Last night my love asked what I wanted for my birthday and all I could think of was a hooded dryer. Yeah I 'm a little hair obsessed and I'm sure that's what he thought when I told him what I wanted.  Well now that I thought about it I have some more things I wouldn't mind having. So below is my birthday wish.

  1. Hooded Dryer- Preferablya Pibbs, Pebco, or one from LCL's Website
  2. Spa Day!
  3. Source
  4. E-Reader (Nook or Kindle) + Gift Card
  5.  Littmann Stethoscope (Cardiac preferably)
  6. Source
  7.  Books
6. Coach Bag! I absolutely LOVE Coach. I know my boo was surprised I didn't mention this first!

Wash Day

Wash day was similar to usual. Only difference is I did a hard protein treatment and the products I used. I was experiencing a little breakage after getting my relaxer done about three weeks ago. I should had done a hard protein treatment at one week post. *slaps hand* But I finally got it done. I used my usual method explained here. I let it sit in 20 mins before I rinsed a shampooed.

I tired my NTM conditioner yesterday. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. It was very thick and that is something I am not use to. It smells soooooo good. I could still smell it after I applied my leave-in. Funny thing is I did not put on any oil after applying my leave-in. I definitely forgot. *slaps hand again* I then put my hair in a ponytail, put on a scarf, and let it air dry overnight. After my last two washes I discovered my hair behaves better, meaning lay down, when I put my hair in a pony tail, wrap the ends around the pony, and pin it. I let it air dry to 90% before taking off the scarf and letting the part where the hair tie was finish drying. So that will be my new air drying method. Currently my hair is low bun and I plan on keeping it that way until tomorrow evening when I will do another flexi set on dry hair.

The products I used
1. L'oreal Paris EverStrong Hydrate Shampoo
2. NTM daily deep conditioner
3. LTR Split Ends

* Sorry I don't have any pictures this time. There really wasn't anything picture worthy. *

Quick Style (Lunch Date Do)

Love took me out for a lunch date at a local Thai restaurant. This was my first time eating Thai and let me say the food was dee-lish! But this post is not about that. It's about my quick hair style.

I planned on washing my hair when I came home (which I'm doing now ad will be posting about later) so I know I didn't want to do anything too time consuming. Now that I think about it I probably should have taken a pic of my outfit. I'll keep that in mind for next time. As I was saying, I had to come up with something simple and cute. I had an old flexi set it that left my ends. curly. I also just purchased some banana clips that I've been wanting to use so I put decided to do a simple up do with a bump/hump in the front. I really want some bumpits and will be purchasing some in the near future. Because I didn't have anything I just used my fingers to pull my hair up a bit and created my own small hump. I used some LTR and a little EVOO to put my hair up in u banana clip and there you have it. Probably took me 5 minutes. I am pleased and will be soon this style again. Hope you like.

Quest to find a Good Deep Conditioner!

I'm currently on a quest to find a good moisturizing DC for a reasonable price. Right now I'm currently using Mizani Moisturfuse. Although I love this product it's about $14 plus tax for a ??? oz bottle. While I can still fit the Mizani into my budget I want to see if I can find something that is a little cheaper. Maybe this isn't a good idea. You know the saying, "don't try to fix it if it aint broke"? Well I'm trying to fix what is not broke. This is a HHJ so what's a journey without some trial and error? I will try 3 DCs before I go back to Mizani Moisturefuse:
1. Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner
2. Creme of Nature Argon Oil Intensive Oil Treatment
3. Some other Deep Conditioning Mask (Not sure of a brand yet)

I will probably try the conditioners in this order. I already purchased the Neutrogena Triple Moisture and will be using it this weekend. I may try the DC for a month before deciding to keep them or give them the boot! I will be reviewing each product at the end of the month right here on my blog. I may even try mixing my own DC if I don't find something that I absolutely love.

What are your staple moisturizing deep conditioners?
